i-Tune Rentals

I know I have already did this store but the BBC has done a feature on it and they explain much better then I did. Also the it is a video.

If Steve Job is able to get the movie studios to agree the that rental is the way to go then Apple will be king of Hollywood. I know that piracy is very high in the music industry but in movies I really believe that people will want to rent and move on to the next movie. The movie studio are worried that they will have they will fall into the same trap as the music studio but I think most people will only watch a movie for just a few times and the i-Tunes rental is a great way to reach another market. Good for you Steve!

Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay

They made to White Castle so they decide to go a little further for a vacation....Maybe Cuba? This time they have out did themselves. This movie is an R rating and it looks really bad. I wonder how the unrated and uncut version will look on DVD. That is when i will see this movie. (there is some nude in this trailer.)

Robot can solve a Rubik's cube

The Japanese are solving the world problems with their cutting edge technology. The latest problem is they figured out is they have created a robot that can solve that Rubik's cube problem. Now I drag my Rubik's cube that I have never could fix from the 80's and this robot will be able to do it for me.

Sony is Dropping the Rear

Sony has stopped production on the rear-projection TV business. The reason they have said was because of the losing money and the plan to focus on two panel technologies -- the liquid crystal display and organic light-emittin diode. I say great it is the same price for a flat screen TV and a flat screen will take up less room. (I wish Santa brought me one of those Flat Screen HDTV)

Rentals in i-Tunes

Apple is in the news again. And I am not talking about breaking the $200 per share price point. ( Congratulation Jobs) but the new deal with News Corp’s 20th Century Fox will start allowing rentals of movies from movies. I really like this move because who wants to own all the movies from you watch. I am one of those who like to rent more then own, because if I own I will only watch the movie once and it will be years before I will watch it again. So I great for those who are i-tunes stuck and i-pod owners now you will not feel guilty deleting movies from you i-pod when it gets full. My guess is Disney will so follow in the i-rental-movie-business. Click here to read more

Apple was not the only one out there making deals today Warner Music Group have agreed to let Amazon sell music on their online store with out digital rights management software. So this expands Amazon’s MP3 library to 2.9 million songs. At the price of 89 cents or 99 cents. Click here to read more

It seems like everyone is moving towards a DRM free world and this is a good thing. i-tunes have something to worry about now.

3D Tech from Japan

I am not too sure what this all mean but it seem the Japanese have new technology that allows a person be duplicated in a 3d format. I get this will be helpful at the barber shops. You will be able to see the hair cut you want and try out the different styles. Also another use would be in trying on clothes at the store. You will not have go to the dressing room. As for a pervert stand point you can but an image of the one you are stalking in different clothes. Think of the live this will save.

Is Apple Turning to Mircrosoft?

(this is a cooler way of looking at Apple and Intel Partnership)

Apple has filed a patent with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for a Digital rights management just like Microsoft's Windows Genuine Advantage.

The patent application No. 20070288886, titled "Run-Time Code Injection To Perform Checks" This is not too surprising because with the popularity of the Apple products, Apple want to protect themselves from piracy.

Microsoft has a similar program and it has not been all that successful. With WGA has mistaken many legal Windows users as having a pirated software.

The current Mac OS X is not currently copy protected. but with the Mac hardware become increasingly(Because of the Partnership of Apple and Intel.....See picture at the top.) using the same configuration to Windows machine.

My production is that once Apple has finished testing this system Apple will start licence their OS X to other computer makers. This will not happen any time soon maybe in the next few years. So this will take some of the market share from Microsoft. That is the time we will see great innovation with OS not like we saw with Vista and Leopard. I really think that Steve Jobs wants his computer to be in every home and business. And his computers are not in the big business yet......We will see how it unfold in the coming years.

My guess (or Opinion) is that Steve Jobs is very competitive and would like to change the face of computers (again). But he will not be able to do this unless he licence his software to other computer makers.

Format Wars

The Format Wars is still going strong. This is not surprising because both sides are still not backing down. The war is between Blu-ray and HD DVD. Major blow were taken by both sides. The HDDVD teamed up with Wal-mart to sell players for $98 for the Holiday season. This strike would have killed the Blu-ray camp but it was only temperate. Wal-mart was only selling them as a promo. But they do have $199 machine for sale but I think HDDVD has not hit the sweet price point that will beat Blu-ray.

Blu-ray has aggressively used the marketing department to get the word out on the new format. (If you went into any best buy you would have seen the Ads on all the HD TVS). Also on print, TV and all over the internet is where you can find Ads for the Blu-ray. Sony is the one back the Blu-ray. They have put a Blu-ray player in there Playstaion 3 game console.

So there is no clear winner yet and there will not be one for a while. I think it because both formats do not have all the content available as you would find in the regular DVD format. So I will still be sitting on the fence watch a war rages on.

Duke Nuke'em Trailer

If you don't remeber or never knew Duke was hit video game in the 90(been so long I am not too sure) So the creators have up dated the game but is too late? It does not tell too much. but here it is. Love the eight's action rock music in the background.

Hell Boy 2 Teaser

Let start the the day after Christmas right. Since I have eaten too much and need a little work out I thought it would be good to start with a Action Trailer.

Hellboy II: The Golden Army is the name and the director is the guy who did Pan Labyrinth. It seem like after you get your big break in Hollywood, you have to do some big budget crappy movie. I am sure he is getting paid very well and he will do a good job of creative a movie (that I will watch someday on cable), but something tell me he will not be remembered for this picture.
